I’m a firm believer that mindset is the biggest part of getting the results we want on a consistent basis.
These are a few of the “truth statements” I use in different situations when I’m falling into a mistaken belief.
When I’m feeling overwhelmed and incapable: I remind myself that I was made for this. The massive action I’ve taken has gotten me to this point. I’m fully prepared for this moment because of the prep I’ve done.
When I’m facing hardship or odds are against me: I remind myself that all difficulties and hardships are good for me. Inspired by this two-minute “good” video from Jocko Wilink. It’s good I’m facing this because I will learn from it.
When I don’t get the reward I expected: I remember the quote from the Bhagavad Gita, “You have the right to your labor, but not to the fruits of your labor.”
When I fail really badly: Rookie mindset/Growth mindset. Of course I failed. I’m still learning and growing in this new skill. This is just a reminder I have more growing to do I’m this area.
When feeling angry or defensive: What is God asking of me in this moment? How is God testing my faith?
When I have a desire for things I know are not good for me: Recognize my desires are not too strong but too weak. The deepest desire and passion I can have fulfilled is my desires for God.
When marriage is hard: “Even when I lose I’m winning”. A lyric from John Legend’s award winning single, “All of Me”.
When I don’t want to do my routines or follow through: “I will make good habits and become their slave.” The Greatest Salesman In the World by Og Mandino.
When I get hit by life after taking a risk or promotion: You wanted to be in the NFL. Nobody said being in the nfl was easy. You will get hit. Remember you are in the big leagues and be proud.
